Progress?

It's slow going. I've been peeling the hall bath wallpaper while Milo showers. Sounds fruitless, but he takes long showers, and we talk about tree houses and water slides while I work.
Hall bath

This wall is almost done, but I have to take down those lights and the mirror to get what's behind them.

While the lights are down, I should replace them with something less Hollywood-y, but I'm not yet sure what.
So I procrastinate.

And I have to finish what's over the shower. Milo screams when I try to flake wallpaper into his shower. So I suppose I'll have to do this part when he's on the toilet or something.  But it has to get done soon. The corners are beginning to mold.

The wallpaper was applied directly to the drywall, so lots of gouging occurs....That means lots of mudding will need to occur. Yet another reason to procrastinate.

In the meantime, this is the standard of cleanliness in this bathroom. Poor Milo.

On the other hand, Milo's room has been redone a couple of times. Here's his new (always unmade) bed. Grandma hemmed a curtain so he can hide underneath and play on his computer.

After two ceiling fan changes, I had to take it down and install a light and wall fan because feet kept interfering with the fan blades.

Here he is in the bed pre-fan removal.
Ain't he cute?

Here's the hallway I've mostly finished painting. I don't like the color. I really want a deep mustard but I haven't found the right paint sample. It'll do for now.

While cooking dinner, I've been working on the breakfast room wall. Another slow project, but the wallpaper is gone, and I've completed mudding and sanding the cracks in the wood paneling.

Sanding is messy, but Jac made fish tonight, and the smell of fish makes me ill. So I went nuts with the shop vac hoping it would suck up the smell with the dust. But you can still see dust on the floor. And the house still smells like fish.

Next is primer, then a deep red paint. I'm so nervous!

The stairway wallpaper still lurks, and it's peeling around the edges.

"This will come last," I keep saying. But it's really starting to bug me.

  1. Moving right along! It looks great. Don't worry about finishing it. A house is never finished!
